ABOUT VYDA

Welcome to the
Vermont Yankee Decommissioning Alliance

We are working to shut down Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant
…..before it is too late!

Cooling tower collapse 1

To that end we organize:

Events to educate the Central Vermont public about the risks that having a nuclear power plant in Vermont poses to our state, about the connection of nuclear power to climate change and about the truly green alternatives we have for efficient power.

Actions to better publicize that nuclear power is NOT safe, NOT cheap, NOT efficient and, certainly NOT green.

Our Meetings:
2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month
5 pm
Unitarian Church, Main St, Montpelier

For information call: 476 -3154

This is a PIVOTAL moment in the movement to shut down the Entergy Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant.

Whether you have been working for 30 years or have just become aware of the issue you need to join us on Wed, April 29 for a day of protest against Vermont Yankee and demonstration of the sustainable choice Vermonters want for their energy future. Bring your friends, bring your family, bring your colleagues —

•We need to influence at least 5 more representatives before the legislative session ends to override a most-likely Governor Douglas veto of the 2009 Decommissioning bill.

•Our Legislators will decide SOON whether to choose a clean, safe and reliable energy future, or keep us hooked up to Yankee’s dangerous, dirty, and expensive power for another 20 years. We need to show our leaders the choice we want, and the consequences, BEFORE they leave for the summer.
